Hi, I'm David, a software engineer building an edtech startup at the intersection of psychometrics and play-based learning.
Before founding my startup, I was head of technology at Validus Risk Management, where I ran the development of the company's trade execution, portfolio management, and risk analysis platform. I started out at Citigroup and J.P. Morgan, working on core frameworks for large-scale risk management systems. Financial technology remains a passion, and I'm currently building an open-source FIX engine to fill a gap in the Rust and Python ecosystems.
I write here about software engineering, systems, and what I've learned leading engineering teams.
I occasionally take on consulting engagements. If you'd like to work together, email me at david@davidsteiner.dev.
